Curricular Aspects

 
 

The various courses of study offer ample scope to the students to select a suitable course and supplement it with various multi-disciplinary additional options. The college runs degree classes in all the three traditional streams of education - Science,  Commerce, Humanities with Honours in ten subjects : English, Political Science, Sociology, Hindi, Economics, History, Psychology, Public Administration, E-Commerce and Business Economics. We have a total of 25 departments offering as many as 19 programmes. Presently, the college is running PG courses in English, Sociology, Economics, Psychology, Commerce, Mathematics, Chemistry, Mass Communication and Computer Applications.

Realizing the importance of vocation as an essential parameter in the development of personality as a means to empower women, the college  runs various vocational courses. Professional Courses such as B.Sc.-MFT and BCA are also offered to the students. Since the objectives of the institution focus on producing potential women, we equip them with qualifications to start their own enterprise as well with career-oriented courses affiliated to Panjab University (UGC sponsored).

The college also provides a great deal of horizontal and vertical mobility to the students in the choice of core and non-core options and a lot of flexibility in the time frame within the constraints of the prescribed syllabi

LPG (Liberalization, privatization and globalization)  have brought us to the threshold of information explosion resulting in constant proliferation of knowledge. Technological advancements are taking place at break-neck speed and institutions of higher education are striving to cope with the speed. The present globalized world is highly competitive, working on the 'participate or perish' policy  in which only the best would sustain themselves. At MCM we take full cognizance of the demands of the present scenario and amalgamate it with the ideals of the founding fathers of the DAV movement in keeping with our goals and objectives.

M.A. (English)_______________________________________________________________

Eligibility for Master of Arts - English..................................................................................

The student must possess any one of the following qualifications :
 
1. B.A. with Honours in English.
2. Bachelor's degree in any faculty with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
3.

Diploma in Physical Education of Post Graduate Diploma in Library Science after having passed B.A. of B.Sc.

4. B.A. (General) in full subjects obtaining at least 45% marks in English as an Elective subject.
5. Master's degree in a subject other than English.
6.

B.A. examination under Social Service regulations or under War Regulations and has subsequently passed in English in the B.A. examination obtaining at least 45% marks.

7. B.Sc. Honours School.
   
   

M.A. (Sociology)_____________________________________________________________

1. B.A. with Honours in Sociology.
2. Bachelor's degree in any faculty with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.

3. B.A. (Genral) in full subjects obtaining at least 45% marks in Economics as an Elective subject.
4. Master's Degree in a subject other than Economics.

M.A. (Psychology)____________________________________________________________

Eligibility for Master of Arts - Psychology............................................................................

 
The student must possess any one of the following qualifications :
 
1. B.A. with Honours in Psychology.
2. Bachelor's degree with Psychology as one of the subject in graduation with at least 50% marks in graduation.
3. Students who have not studied Psychology in graduation are not eligible to apply.

M.Com_____________________________________________________________________

Students must possess BBA or B.Com degree or any other degree recognized by the university equivalent to BBA or B.Com

Merit Determination : The merit is determined on the basis of the score of candidates in the previous examination. Weightage of15% is given for degree in honours.
 
 

M.Sc. (Chemistry)____________________________________________________________

Eligibility for M.Sc (Chemistry)..........................................................................................

 
 
1.  Admission will be on the basis of entrance test (O-CET) conducted by the Panjab University. Only the rank holders in these entrance test will be considered for admission. 50% weightage will be given to the score in entrance test & 50% to the score in the qualifying examination. .
   
2. B.Sc. Examination of Panjab University or other University recognized by the Syndicate securing at least 50% marks in aggregate with Chemistry & Mathematics along with anyone of the following subjects : 

(a.) Biochemistry                  (b.) Botany                       (c.) Geology
(d.) Physics                         (e.) Statistic                     (d.) Zoology

M.Sc. (Mathematics)__________________________________________________________
